Earns NEW Stage Curtains! The 2016-2017 school year was a busy one for the drama department! The 25-year old blue front stage curtains and the 50+ year old black surround curtains were in bad shape and needed to be replaced. We decided to begin raising money to replace our dilapidated stage curtains. The drama department began their fundraising efforts by putting on a Halloween Harvest Dinner in October of 2016 and staff play entitled, “Who’s Crazy Now?” in November of 2016. We then received a very generous $1,000 private donation from Bonnie Briggs, because she heard the drama students were trying to purchase new curtains for the school’s only performance venue. The Gleaners donated $250 toward the project as well. The Breckenridge Music Boosters joined in the contributions by giving $1,000. And finally, the generous grants from both the Breckenridge Education Foundation for $1,000 and the Gratiot County Community Foundation in the amount of $3,500! We are so grateful for all of the community support in this endeavor! In light of the hard work and generosity of our donors, both the new front blue curtains and surround black curtains were purchased and installed over Christmas Break. The school paid for the stage floor to be repainted and there is enough money to build a desperately needed storage loft and new backdrop. We are so proud of the hard work, dedication and generosity of everyone involved! Thank you for your support! Drama Club Presents a Successful
ALL SCHOOL MUSICAL This year the Breckenridge Drama Club tried something new. Music and drama students from grades 3-12 put on, The Musical, Too: a Broadway Musical Revue on April 27th and April 30th. Actors from the HS drama class tied the songs from Broadway shows together, with dialogue and monologues. The middle and high school choirs provided the large ensemble numbers and 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students sang with our 6th graders in an nice sounding chorus. There were several small groups and exciting solos. Thank you to all of the staff and parents who helped with this production! The April 30th show was packed and the performers did a great job! High School Choir Performs
on Mackinac Island! Our High School Choir will be performing at Mackinac Island Music Festival on May 20, 2017. Besides performing in the festival, our choir will be touring Fort Mackinac on the Island, staying at Mission Point Hotel, enjoying an evening concert, and eating lunch at the famous Grand Hotel! The choir has participated in this festival for four years and has enjoyed every minute! Good luck HS choir! Middle School Choir and Band Performance
Thursday, June 1, 2017 The Breckenridge 6th grade band, 6th grade choir,7-8th grade band and 7-8th grade choir performed for the Masonic Home residents on Thursday, June 1st in Alma. Some of the choir songs included were Disney Spectacular, Let it Go and I Just Can’t Wait to be King. Some of the band pieces included Ancient Dances, Shenandoah, and Fallmark March. After the middle school students performed, they enjoyed a picnic lunch at Reed Park in North Star. This is an annual event that Mrs. Loyselle and Mr. Radtke organize so that our middle school students have a chance to perform for a community service event. It was a great day! Great Performance Drama and Choir Students!!!

PAST PERFORMANCESThe Big Bad Musical - A howling courtroom comedy!
The Breckenridge 7th and 8th grade choir performed a musical on March 12th, in place of their winter concert this year. A courtroom has never been more lively and fun than in The Big Bad Musical! The jury — our audience — decided the outcome of the biggest trial ever in the fairy-tale world! The notorious Big Bad Wolf was being slapped with a class-action lawsuit by storybooks of quirky characters who wanted to get even: Little Red Riding Hood, her Grandmother, the Three Little Pigs and the Shepherd in charge of the Boy Who Cried Wolf. With Sydney Grimm as the commentator on live Court TV, the two greatest legal minds in the Enchanted Forest — the Evil Stepmother and the Fairy Godmother — clash in a trial that will be remembered forever after. Great job to our Middle School actors and actresses!!
Food with Friends-The HS Choir sang Christmas Carols for the luncheon at the Center in December. The students enjoy singing for the Senior Citizens every year!
